Recruitment has begun for the inaugural Ottawa Wolves Spring Hockey Club!

Hockey parents,

My name is Brad Bezan. I'm a head coach with the U9 Stittsville Rams Association and am honoured to be the head coach of the new Ottawa Wolves Spring Hockey Club.

For years, parents have approached me about spring hockey opportunities, often expressing frustration over the limited spots available, especially as many are AAA/AA level only. We know there are so many talented players who deserve a chance to play but have been left out. This year, we’re excited to announce the creation of the Ottawa Wolves Hockey Club, a registered non-for-profit organization to provide those opportunities for kids born between in 2016 & 2017 from across Ottawa, competing at the A, AA, AAA Levels in tournaments across Canada and the USA. This season, we’re collaborating with tournament organizers in Vermont, Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto to find the best competition for our new teams.

The Wolves will feature standout players from the competitive divisions, ‘A’ divisions, as well as a few promising B players. Interest has been strong, and we’re aiming to keep this team invite-only in the years to come. However, before that, I’m eager to build strong relationships with all of you as we expand the program and seek representation from players across your associations. With that said, if your child or a child you know is a standout player, not already on a AAA/AA spring team and would be interested in joining the Ottawa Wolves, please have them submit a Player Request Form here as soon as possible. Submissions must include their current team information so that one of our coaches or team partners can attend one of their games this season.

We have an amazing coaching team, including seasoned on-ice coaches and mentors with experience ranging from the NHL to the Spengler Cup to international play, and I’ll be announcing them soon. I’m also looking to add two more key coaches to our on-ice team:

  • On-Ice Goalie Coach – to work with our Director of Goaltending

  • On-Ice Player Development Coach – someone with extensive experience who can implement goals set by our Director of Hockey Development

The roster will be finalized by February 1, 2025, though I hope to have 90% of the team selected by December 15th. Full-ice hockey begins in January, adding a new dimension to the game and more opportunity for players to shine.

Additional Information:

  • Cost per player: approximately $800-1000, which includes entry to about three tournaments, jerseys, socks, four practices, four exhibition games, insurance, off-ice dry-land training, socials and wolves branded team gear.

  • High emphasis on equal playing time and opportunity

  • Hotel and accommodation costs are extra.

  • Team size: Only 15 skaters will be chosen and one goaltender for each 2016 & 2017 age group.

I look forward to working with all of you for years to come.
See you on the ice,

Coach Brad
